電感耦合等離子體質譜儀  測定超痕量元素和同位素比值的儀器。由等離子體發生器,霧化室,炬管,四極質譜儀和一個快速通道電子倍增管(稱為離子探測器或收集器)組成。其工作原理是:霧化器將溶液樣品送入等離子體光源,在高溫下汽化,解離出離子化氣體,通過銅或鎳取樣錐收集的離子,在低真空約133.322帕壓力下形成分子束,再通過1~2毫米直徑的截取板進入四極質譜分析器,經濾質器質量分離后,到達離子探測器,根據探測器的計數與濃度的比例關系,可測出元素的含量或同位素比值。其優點是:具有很低的檢出限(達ng/ml或更低),基體效應小,譜線簡單,能同時測定許多元素,動態線性范圍寬及能快速測定同位素比值。地質學中用于測定巖石、礦石、礦物、包裹體,地下水中微量、痕量和超痕量的金屬元素,某些鹵素元素、非金屬元素及元素的同位素比值。(見彩圖)
