泡桐泡桐Paulownia玄參科泡桐屬落葉喬木的通稱。共8種,在中國分布廣泛,越南、老撾北部也有分布,朝鮮、日本、阿根廷、美國南部有引種栽培。在中國北起遼寧南部、北京、延安一線,南至廣東、廣西,東起臺灣,西至云南、貴州、四川都有分布。主要栽培種有蘭考泡桐、楸葉泡桐、毛泡桐、白花泡桐和川泡桐。木材紋理通直,結構均勻、不撓不裂,聲學性好,供建筑、家具、人造板和樂器等用材;纖維素含量高,是造紙工業的好原料;葉、花、果和樹皮可入藥;樹姿優美、花色艷麗,并有凈化空氣和抗大氣污染的能力,是綠化的好樹種。泡桐樹花樹皮灰色、灰褐色或灰黑色。假二杈分枝。單葉對生,卵形,全緣或有淺裂,具長柄,柄上有絨毛。花大,淡紫色或白色,頂生圓錐花序,由多數聚傘花序復合而成,花萼鐘狀或盤狀,花冠鐘形或漏斗形。蒴果卵形或橢圓形,熟后背縫開裂。種子多數為長圓形,小而輕,兩側具有條紋的翅。白色泡桐泡桐對熱量要求較高。對大氣干旱的適應能力較強,但因種類不同而有一定的差異。對土壤肥力、土層厚度和疏松程度也有較高的要求。怕水淹,在粘重的土壤上生長不良。土壤pH以6~7.5為好。育苗方法很多,有插根、播種和留根等,其中以插根育苗最普遍。造林地選在土層深厚、質地疏松和通氣良好的壤土和砂壤土。一般在秋季落葉后到第二年春季發芽前均可造林。有的地區進行秋季帶葉栽植,也取得較好的效果。泡桐叢枝病是較普遍的病害,防治方法包括選用無病母樹的根作為繁殖材料,及時修除病樹,選用抗病良種等。害蟲有大袋蛾為害葉部,毛黃鰓金龜的幼蟲食苗木根皮。
